Elaphe - The One And Only Instinct Snake Lord

Here, you can find information about Elaphe, Enforcer's most prolific Pokemon Go-based OC. They used to be a straight up self-insert back in 2016, but kinda took on a life of their own (in one AU, literally) so... For the record, I no longer consider Elaphe a sona. They no longer share sexuality or gender identity with me, I've changed my avatar in Pokemon Go, they have a completely different backstory, and The Dudebro King Of Darkness and my Arlo headcanons render Pokemon Go self-insertion irrelevant. Elaphe still exists because I like their dynamic with Blanche and Spark. They're just not me anymore.

Elaphe is a complicated character, and not in the sense of having deep lore. Basically, she's been a ton of things over the years, and really, the only consistent parts are having some connection to Team Instinct and snakes, being good in a fight, and being edgy. Because of their nature as what is effectively an embodiment of Pokémon Go itself and all of my feelings about it, Elaphe is less of a consistently characterized and planned out entity and more of a presence who simply Is. The current version is simply the best attempt to shape everything Elaphe's been over the past several years into a single entity. Basically, there will be inconsistencies. I'll tell you what's canon or not.

Bio

Former Team Instinct enforcer and self-proclaimed "sector lord" of downtown [REDACTED], maintaining near constant control of all of the local gyms and challenging anyone who enters the region, regardless of team. Because of her lack of team player-ism, got officially discharged from Team Instinct, so she makes her income by working as an adjunct at the local Trainer's School. Ze can keep the gym colors, they're just not going to pay zem anymore. Known as the "Dark Serpent" for their ruthless tactics and carefully cultivated snake motif.

Partner to Blanche. At some point, Elaphe saw a picture of them and decided they were the best thing ze had ever seen, so she proceeded to somehow fight her way through everyone in Mystic HQ while being a reasonably good for her area, but nothing to write home about suburban trainer in order to ask the team leader out. She succeeded, Blanche did indeed go out with her, and they really hit it off, being able to perfectly balance each other's dark urges and vibrating at the same frequencies about their special interests. Elaphe's pretty much the only person for whom Blanche reveals theirs because they truly feel safe around her. In turn, Blanche helps keep Elaphe on kilter by being completely unfazed and accepting. It's not much fun being an edgelord if the main person whose opinion matters to you is totally cool with it.

Fun Facts
  • Totally buys all of her clothes at Hot Topic.
  • Only reveals her eyes to Blanche or others she's very close to (who thus far, don't really exist). Otherwise, they're covered by her fringe, sunglasses, or both.
  • Her sunglasses can do augmented reality things so she can scan bar codes, see which people are in a gym, and zoom in or out. The LED slits are expressive as well to allow her to make facial expressions without revealing her eyes.
  • Despite having a keycard to Mystic HQ, she continues to fight her way through everyone whenever she wants to visit Blanche at work just because she can. The Mystic admins really wish she'd stop. Blanche doesn't substantially care. The Mystics she fights see it as an opportunity to strengthen their bench Pokémon.
  • There are rumors that she either is, or is possessed by, some sort of primordial spirit of conquest and/or demon. Elaphe has declined to comment, but loves the rep.
  • She considers herself loyal to Team Instinct in that she literally trusts her instincts. Mostly the ones concerning sex, violence, and territoriality. She doesn't get why most of the mainstream Instinct community doesn't like her and considers the "thinking positive" bit to be a distraction from its real ideals.
  • Despite her love for domination, she loves a good fight more, and will select her Pokémon so that whoever she fights as "sector lord" has a decent chance of winning if they play their cards right. It's no fun to just crush people. If they actually do win, she gets very enthusiastic at the prospect of gaining a colleague or friend.
  • Pokémon trainers haven't used weapons in centuries, but she still collects knives just because she likes them.

  • Blurb: One of the oldest Pokémon Elaphe still has. Was walked around as a Magikarp in a fish bowl on a wagon for 129 kilometers to get where he is now. They have many other better Gyaradi now, but Draggy holds a special place in Elaphe's heart as zir first dreamie Pokémon.
